Why graduation weekends in LA sell out first
There is one trailer and three weekends. Here is how the season actually works, and when to book.
Graduation season in Los Angeles is a scheduling problem disguised as a celebration. Every high school and most colleges finish inside the same few weeks, which means every party in your circle lands on the same three or four Saturdays in May and June.
The maths, plainly
There is one trailer. A booking is one trailer on one date, so a Saturday afternoon in June is a genuinely scarce thing, and it belongs to whoever puts a deposit on it first. We hold dates on deposits, not on conversations — not because we are being difficult but because a date held on a maybe is a date somebody else could have had.
The practical version: if your graduate's date is fixed and you know you want this, book it before you book anything else. Caterers and photographers can usually flex. A single trailer cannot.
Why it works for this particular party
A grad party is a strange mix — the graduate's friends, cousins who know nobody, and a yard full of parents who have run out of things to say to each other. It is genuinely hard to find one activity that all three groups will do.
Arcade basketball is one of the few. Teenagers will play it because it is competitive; parents will play it because a game lasts a minute and nobody is watching that closely. Nobody has to organise anything for either of those to happen.
Evening setups
A lot of grad parties run late, and this is where the trailer earns its keep twice. The machines carry their own lighting, so once the sun goes down the trailer becomes the lit thing in the yard rather than a dark box in the corner. If your party runs into the evening, tell us when you book so we can agree the pickup window.
The other peaks
For what it is worth, graduation is not the only crunch. Spring weekends fill early across school carnival season, and the first three weeks of December are the densest corporate window of the year. Everything else in the calendar is far more relaxed than people expect.
